Three things you have with you at all times?
My phone, a pen, and glasses
What are your hobbies when you are not studying or working?
Playing the bass guitar and watching movies
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Be open to new experiences and humble enough to admit what you do not know. That is how true learning occurs!
What were you doing before you came to the Brown School?
I was a physician with a general practice, providing medical care to different segments of the populace and also led a healthcare team in Ghana.
What first made you interested in studying public health and/or social work?
Children kept returning to the consulting room with recurrent diarrhea diseases and protozoan diseases like Malaria.I realized the problem was in the community and that there was a disconnect between clinical medicine and the determinants of health in the communities I worked in. Public health seemed to provide the tools to bridging that gap. This sparked my interest and I decided to get an MPH to increase my knowledge and equip myself with tools to help me advocate for lasting solutions.
