WHAT IS EVIDENCE-BASED PUBLIC HEALTH?
Evidence-based health public health (EBPH) methods and interventions are practices, programs, and policies that have been proven effective.
The process of distilling the best evidence from research, practice and experience and using that evidence to inform public health practice is referred to as evidence-based decision making (EBDM). Evidence-based public health uses EBDM to integrate science-based interventions with community preferences to develop effective interventions.
Since 1997, the Prevention Research Center at Washington University in St. Louis has worked to build capacity for EBPH practice by sponsoring courses (link to EBPH Training) in EBPH at local, state, national and international sites.
